Agincort Hymn, The

Lyrics

We haven't typed out the lyrics to this song. If you want to do so and email them to us, then we'll be happy to put them here

Notes/Trivia

An old 13th century carol (as opposed to a new 13th century carol...) that is a ton of fun to sing. Part of it is in English so archaic that not even the archaic English understood it.

Dark Chocolate

Notes/Trivia

Yes, we were trying to be diverse.

"Dark Chocolate" is actually called "I'll remember you, love, in my prayers" and was written by Adam Moroni Dawson, a friend of mine from the neighborhood who was an extraordinary composer. An arrangement of this was sung by the BYU Singers at one time; and also by us. I like the all-male version better. It's a love song, a ballad, with lush harmonies and beautiful everythings. Not exactly the kind of thing you'd expect moosebutter to sing.

We multi-track recorded this on Bryant's Tascam 4-track in the Summer of 2000. The recording is pretty yucky but the song is great.

It's called "Dark Chocolate" because someone remarked that singing it (or listening to it?) (or listening to it as we sang it?) was like eating dark chocolate slowly. That's a good thing. And it sounded better than the other comment, that it was like cloying honey. Whatever that means.

Green Alien

Notes/Trivia

solo: Bryant

This was an original moosebutter tune, based on a song Bryant had written that was really beautiful and meaningful, that he then canabalized with parody words about the little green dudes from Toy Story. Great song that I hope to re-record sometime, with drum set and all the fixins.

Sesame Street

Lyrics

Notes/Trivia

Like every upstart a cappella group, we began by pilfering stuff we knew and liked... and since everyone loves Sesame Street (DON'T YOU????) we did an arrangement. The arrangement consisted of copying the music from a piano/vocal book and singing the piano parts. I had, in my mind, the way it was supposed to work and why wasn't everybody JUST SINGING IT RIGHT ALREADY? I gradually learned the fine art of WRITING THINGS OUT FOR BETTER COMPREHENSION.

Anyway, it was fun, though it never sounded that good.

And I always loved Jake going "1... 2... 3... ha ha ha" like the Count.

Snap, Crackle, Pop

Lyrics

Snap, what a happy sound
Snap is the happiest sound I've found
You may clap, rap, tap, slap but
Snap... makes the world go round.

Snap Crackle Pop Rice Krispies

I say it's crackle the crispy sound
You gotta have crackle or the clock's not wound.
Geese cackle, feathers tickle,
Belts buckle, beets pickle,
But crackle... makes the world go round.

Snap Crackle Pop Rice Krispies

I insist that pop's the sound
The best is missed unless pop's around.
You can't stop hoppin' when the cereal's poppin',
Pop... makes the world go round.

Snap Crackle Pop Rice Krispies

-- Transcribed by Robyn J

Notes/Trivia

Another gleefully-pilfered song from our early days. It's the old jingle for the breakfast cereal, that I stole from the "Oooooh, Shiny" CD sung by Mary Jane Jones and Skye and someone else.

That CD was awfully influential to me...

Sung in a round. Butt Crackle.

Valentine's Day Song, The

Lyrics

same as on udder won, except for the Stephen Hawking line it's Ross Perot.

Notes/Trivia

One of the original, done by the original trio, sung at our first BYU A Cappella Jam. I still remember the a cappella club president's reaction on first hearing it... "It's not like our normal stuff... but it's still good! No, really, it's good...."

Don't know if he was trying to convince us or him.
